Four Seasons taps into Puerto Rico potential

by Rose White

Four Seasons has become the latest luxury hotel company to arrive in Puerto Rico with the rebadging of St Regis Bahia Beach – to reopen as Four Seasons Resort Puerto Rico in late 2025.

The property’s change of hands is the result of a new arrangement between Four Seasons and investment firm Paulson Puerto Rico which owns the property. together with partners Interlink and Muñoz Holdings.

“As one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico is the perfect location to bring legendary Four Seasons service and experiences to locals, visitors and residents alike,” Four Seasons President Global Business Development Bart Carnahan said.

“We are honoured that our partners at Paulson Puerto Rico have chosen Four Seasons to usher such an exquisite beachfront property into its next chapter, introducing a new luxury lifestyle offering on the island.”

An extensive renovation will see the hotel’s 139 rooms and suites as well as its 85 private residences reimagined, with additional units to join the residential portfolio upon its relaunch.

Paulson Founder John Paulson highlighted Four Seasons’ entry to the island as testament to the immense opportunities that lie ahead.

“We are confident that our partnership with Four Seasons will deliver exceptional value to the island, and further elevate our resort and residences located in one of the most stunning and unique places in the world,” he said.

In addition to its 3.2 kms of white sand beach, the property will feature walking trails, multiple pools with new cabanas, a tennis course and an 18-hole golf course.

The resort and residences will also offer spa and fitness facilities, with the addition of a steam room and sauna, while culinary outlets will include a lobby lounge and bar, poolside grill, specialty restaurant, and new oceanside dining offering.

Additional renovations will include a “showstopping arrival experience” to showcase views of the ocean from the moment guests step inside. The lobby will also be reimagined.

Design firm Meyer Davis will oversee the transformation.

The news comes as a wave of luxury hospitality brands enter the local market, with Auberge Resorts confirming the 2027 opening of Moncayo earlier this month and the May announcement by the Reuben Brothers of the US$2 billion Esencia project, to house hotels by Mandarin Oriental, Aman and Rosewood.
